The proposed bylaw affects the Definitions, General Regulations and Parking sections of Zoning Bylaw No. 2470, 2019.

The proposed amendment:

  • adds definitions for Commercial Electric Vehicle Charging Station and Parking Lot,
  • clarifies that commercial EV chargers are included in the Gas Station and Service Station uses,
  • clarifies that parking lots are an allowed use in all zones,
  • allows commercial EV chargers and parking stalls to encroach on parcel setbacks, so long as landscaping requirements are still met,
  • adds requirements for parking agreements where a parking lot is shared by two or more buildings,
  • allows parking to be on a separate parcel from the use it serves, subject to registration of a parking agreement,
  • clarifies when accessible stalls are required,
  • allows garages to count as 1 parking stall for parking requirements, 
  • introduces regulations for commercial EV charging stations, and
  • introduces regulations for when parking lots are the principal use on a parcel.
