The City of Fort St. John strategically acquires and sells lands for the benefit of the community. Some of these lands are held for a variety of purposes such as recreation centres, fire halls, libraries, parks, roads or other infrastructure, and other civic purposes. Others, if there are no future uses by the City, are sold to reinvest in our community. The City maintains sustainable land-based resources, both in reserve funds and actual land inventory for the benefit of the community now and in the future.
These activities are guided by several Council policies and the City's Land Acquisition and Disposition Framework:
- Council Policy No. 17 - Sale of Municipal Property Policy [PDF/237KB]
- Council Policy No. 18 - Sale of Municipal Properties with Special Development Potential Policy [PDF/231KB]
- Council Policy No. 50 - Sale of Large Block Properties Policy [PDF/232KB]
- Council Policy No. 134 - Sale of Strategic Lands Policy [PDF/316KB]
