In lieu of Fireworks scheduled for Canada Day (July 1), the City of Fort St. John invites local businesses and/or non-profit organizations to offer family friendly activities for our citizens to enjoy during the day on July 1.
The City of Fort St. John will provide a one-time micro grant of $500 dollars up to a maximum of $1,000 per business/non-profit to cover the expenses of proposed activity. Micro grants are on a first-come, first-served basis (Limited micro-grants available).

Recreation Staff will review applications and confirm by email that the activity has been approved and assist with marketing.
Activity Eligible Requirements:
- Applicants must operate a business or nonprofit in the City of Fort St. John
- Hold a valid business license or non-profit number and insurance
- Have their own staff available to run activities
- In charge of registrations and/or bookings (if activity needs pre-registration)
- Activities must be:
- Family Friendly
- Free of charge for participants
- Offered between 4-8pm on July 1
- Provide a detailed description of the proposed activity you’d like to offer at your business.
- The activity must be approved by the City prior to advertising.
