The City of Fort St. John Fire Training Centre, located at 7815 - 90 Street, features a three-story Burn Building, with burn rooms on the main and second floors, and allows firefighters from across the region an opportunity to maintain and enhance their necessary emergency response skills locally.
The Fire Training Centre, which cost $1.6 million to build, provides hands-on, live training and skills maintenance.
Burn Building features:
- Burn rooms use pallets and straw to create realistic fire behaviour.
- The smoke machine has vents plumbed into all three floors, allowing enhanced training scenarios to imitate real-life conditions.
- A forcible entry door on the main floor for practicing entry techniques.
- A standpipe connecting all three floors allows our crews to practice high-rise firefighting operations.
- Moveable partition walls on the second and third floors allow for various scenario environments.
- Anchor points on the structure's roof are useable for crews to practice Technical High-Angle Rope Rescue and Confined Space Rescue skills.

- Exterior natural-gas props, controlled from a gas manifold, to provide real-life situations include:
- Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapour Explosion (BLEVE)

- A pump test pit, currently being fabricated, will allow crews to practice drafting from a static water source and discharge large amounts of water without wasting it.
- Strategic paving allows for technical emergency vehicle operation training.
- The roof prop, located on the ground, allows crews to practice chainsaw ventilation skills.
