Canada Day Celebrations

Canada Day is this Tuesday! Join in the festivities in Centennial Park and all around town.

The 2025 event will include a pancake breakfast at the Fire Hall, parade, on-stage ceremony, local Indigenous drumming, lots of food vendors, the farmers' market, the classic car cruisers show, live music, Peace Country Rentals kids’ zone, and more! Centennial Park activities start at 11 am – check out the online event schedule for all the details.

The day begins with a Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Fort St. John Fire Department! This by-donation event happens from 8:30 - 10:30 am at the Fort St. John Fire Hall. Check out the suggested parking locations [PDF/209KB] near the Fire Hall and attend this event. Limited accessible parking is available in the small Fire Hall guest parking lot accessed from 93 Avenue.

The parade begins at 11 am and will travel down 100 Street, starting at 108 Avenue @ 98 Street, travelling south on 100 Street, ending at the old Fort Motors Parking lot Area (96 Ave-94 Ave) via 100 Street. Select road closures will happen at 7 and 9 am and will be in effect until between 12 and 3:30 pm. It is best to avoid trying to cross the parade route any time after 9 am. Check out the parade route map [PDF/3.3MB] for additional details. 100 Street will be pedestrian-only south of 108 Avenue to 96 Avenue starting at 9 am, with the car show area being closed to vehicle traffic (100 Street between 93 and 96 Avenue on 100 Street) until 3:30 pm.

Parade route detour signs will be in place with City staff, RCMP, traffic control, and volunteers on-site to enforce closures and guide vehicles to an alternate route. There will be high volumes of vehicle congestion around Centennial Park and on the parade route, so we encourage people to arrive early, walk or ride their bike to the celebrations, and be prepared for wait times. Accessible parking is available at the North Peace Leisure Pool with access from 96 Avenue.

Regional fire bans have cancelled our fireworks plans again, so instead, we helped the community host more family-friendly activities by offering Canada Day Micro-grants. Check out the line-up of free activities planned - most start at 4 pm.
