New Contractor to Collect Curbside Garbage and Recycling

Beginning Monday, February 2, 2026, curbside collection of Garbage and Recycling in the city of Fort St. John will be provided by Element Disposal.

Residents can expect a smooth transition with no service delays or disruptions, and collection days will remain the same.

“We’ve worked closely with Element Disposal to ensure this transition is seamless for residents,” said Jeremy Garner, Director of Public Works & Utilities. “While pickup times may shift slightly as new routes are refined, service levels will remain consistent, and we will continue to provide up-to-date information on the City’s website.

Residents who experience missed pickups should contact Element directly at 250-224-8774 or use the Report a Problem form on the City’s website.

To stay informed, residents are encouraged to download the City’s Waste Wise app available for both Apple and Android devices and sign up for collection reminders and service alerts. More information on garbage and recycling services is available at www.fortstjohn.ca/garbage-recycling.
