Parade Application Form
Amp up your business or organization’s visibility in the community by getting creative and entering a float in our annual Santa Claus Parade. All floats must be decorated and the top three floats will be selected by volunteer judges!
Businesses or organizations interested in entering a float, please submit your application below no later than Monday, December 1. The online application form will be disabled immediately after the deadline in order for staff to prepare.
Please note, the application is necessary to ensure staff have a record of all participants. Information from this application is used for City staff to distribute important information and reminders to those wishing to partake.
Parade Guidelines
- All floats must be decorated and incorporate a “Holiday or Christmas” theme.
- Marshalling will begin at 4 pm, north of 110 Ave on 98 Street.
- Parade starts at 5 pm.
- Parade route will travel south on 100 Street, from 108 Avenue to Centennial Park.
- With new City lighting and signage, the float height restriction is now 13.5 feet from ground level.
- Giveaways, including treats, must be handed out by walkers, not thrown from floats. Walkers must be 16 years or older.
- Do not distribute brochures, flyers or any other written or printed materials
- Float participants are required to be respectful of the residences in the marshalling area and keep the noise level down. Do not park vehicles on private property or any boulevards.
- If you want to play music, we recommend selecting songs that go with the Holiday/Christmas theme but refrain from using your horns/sirens.
- For an entry to be accepted, it must conform to the parade rules and regulations. An entry may be refused on should the entry not meet parade guidelines or differ from its approved entry application. No entry may depict any controversial or otherwise offensive materials. Determination is at the sole discretion of the City of Fort St. John.
- Applications must be submitted before the deadline of December 1, 2024.
- The City reserves the right to accept or refuse any application at any time. Parade applicants will receive written notice of approval to participate, as well as information and instructions for the parade, prior to the event.
- Participants are reminded that the purpose of the parade is to celebrate the Holiday Season and provide enjoyment and fun for members of our community. This purpose should be the goal when planning your decorations.
- We all know there is only one Santa Claus. He has confirmed he will ride on the final float of our Parade, then visit the celebrations afterwards. Please do not put people in costume as Santa on your float as it could become confusing for the young and the young at heart!
- The City of Fort St. John is not responsible for any damage to your vehicle or float.
