Starting December 20, 2025, Public Skating on the oval will be free every Saturday from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, and 4:30 to 6:30 pm, thanks to the generous support of Pacific Canbriam Energy.
Pacific Canbriam Energy’s commitment to accessible recreation ensures that all residents, regardless of financial barriers, can enjoy opportunities for active living and community connection.
“We are grateful to Pacific Canbriam Energy for their generous contribution to our community,” said Mayor Hansen. “By making public ice skating free and accessible, they are creating opportunities for families and neighbors to enjoy recreation together. This initiative supports active living and strengthens our sense of community - making Fort St. John such a wonderful place to call home.”
Join Pacific Canbriam Energy staff on the ice on December 27 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm to celebrate this new recreation initiative and enjoy a complimentary hot beverage and cookies.
“Supporting opportunities for residents to stay active and connected truly matters to us,” said Sarah Rutherford, Community Relations Representative at Pacific Canbriam Energy. “Promoting active living and investing in community wellbeing are fundamental to how we operate. We’re thrilled to partner with the City to help people of all ages get outside, enjoy recreation together, and create the moments that bring communities closer.”
