Fish Creek Wildfire Update

While the official investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing and may take some time to conclude, preliminary findings indicate that the fire is considered non-suspicious and not deliberately set.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the fire is currently listed as under control, meaning that it is not projected to spread beyond the current fire perimeter.

The City has initiated damage and safety assessments throughout the Fish Creek Community Forest and trail network. This includes a professional danger tree assessment to identify and remove hazardous trees within the impacted area. Trail conditions will also be reviewed during this process.

These assessments ensure public safety before reopening any part of the Fish Creek Community Forest. We thank residents for their continued patience and cooperation during the temporary closure.

Pending the outcome of these evaluations, we anticipate the possibility of a phased reopening by the weekend with adjusted access points and any necessary safety measures in place.

Updates will be provided as new information becomes available on the City’s website and social media channels.
