The 2025 Property Tax Notices have been mailed or emailed to all property owners this week. With these notices, you will find an insert containing Property Tax Information. Unfortunately, the sent version contained an error in the breakdown of how a municipal tax dollar gets spent under the Operating Budget section. A corrected Property Tax Insert is now available online at www.fortstjohn.ca/taxes.
Important Deadlines & Penalties:
- Property taxes are due by July 2, 2025. Any unpaid balance after the deadline will incur a 10% penalty.
- Please ensure your payment reaches City Hall by this date to avoid penalties.
Didn’t Receive Your Notice:
If you have not received your property tax notice by the end of May, please contact the City’s Finance Department at tax@fortstjohn.ca or call 250-794-3321.
Home Owner Grant Information:
If you are eligible for the Home Owner Grant, please submit your claim directly through the Province of British Columbia online at www.gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant or by calling 1-888-355-2700.
Convenient Payment Options:
You can pay your property taxes using any of the following methods. Note: Credit card payments are subject to a 3.5% convenience fee.
- Online: Pay through My City Hall at mycityhall.fortstjohn.ca.
- Bank or Financial Institution: Pay online through your bank’s service or in-person at your bank.
- In-Person: Visit City Hall (10631 100 Street) during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM).
- Mail: Send cheques to the City of Fort St. John at 10631 100th Street, Fort St. John, BC, V1J 3Z5. (Please note: Mailing is not recommended if there is a Canada Post disruption.)
Canada Post Disruption Alert:
The City is aware of a potential Canada Post mail disruption, which may prevent mailed payments from reaching us before the deadline. To avoid delays, we encourage property owners to use online banking or make payments in person at City Hall. If you pay by mail, please ensure your payment reaches City Hall by the deadline.
