2021 By-election
On January 13, 2021, Councillor Grimsrud provided a letter of resignation from Council effective January 14, 2021, to accept a position within the organization. Since this resignation does not fall within the same year as a general local government election, a by-election is required.
As is required by the Local Government Act, once Council appoints the Chief Election Officer and the Deputy Chief Election Officer, the by-election must be held within 80 days. On March 1, 2021, Council appointed Janet Prestley as the Chief Election Officer and Bonnie McCue as the Deputy Chief Election Officer.
