Downtown Activation Grant

The City of Fort St. John's Downtown Activation Micro-Grant, funded and supported by the Mayor’s Standing Committee on Economic Recovery, provides engaging community activities and experiences for residents, visitors, and businesses downtown.

Micro-grants will be available to downtown businesses and organizations seeking to activate the sidewalks and transform business storefronts downtown.   

The program will run from September 27 to December 31, 2022. The eligible applicant can apply for funding for the cost of approved program elements, up to a maximum of $1,000.

Eligibility

To be eligible to receive an Activation Micro-Grant Program 

  • Operate Storefront business or nonprofit in the Downtown Development Permit Area (highlighted on the map) 
  • Valid business license
  • First-come, first-served basis (Limited micro-grants available)

Note: For successful applicants, you will need to obtain all required permits and licenses for special events  

Eligible Items

  • Marketing and promotional material 
  • Equipment Rental 
  • Musical performances and performer fees 
  • Window decals and décor 
  • Outdoor patio furnishings 
  • Sandwich boards     
  • Other creative experiences  

Ineligible Items 

The City of Fort St. John will not provide funding for political events, political rallies, private events, or payroll expenses.

Requirements

During the event or project, capture 1-3 photos and tag the City of Fort St. John on social media using Instagram and Facebook.
