Mayor's Standing Committee on Community Economic Recovery

The Mayor's Standing Committee on Community Economic Recovery was established by Council to focus on the recovery and resilience following the COVID-19 pandemic, the identification of unique and local successes from the first wave of the pandemic will improve our resiliency to future community shocks.

The committee's role, as the catalysts, is to work with stakeholders and other levels of government to prepare the community for the future. It is the City’s role to realize the vision of the community embedded in the Official Community Plan, and the impacts being felt by the entire community as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will take the whole community working together to achieve community resiliency. Through this committee, the City will identify the issues affecting the community and seek the appropriate stakeholders to work towards solutions.

It is widely known and acknowledged that the City of Fort St John is the major service centre in the North Peace and its economy is dependent on the industries that are, for the most part, outside the jurisdictional boundaries of the city.
