Roads Supervisor

The Supervisor performs various administrative, supervisory, and skilled tasks in one of many departments throughout the city. Work generally involves making daily operational decisions, performing maintenance duties, and supervising and directing staff to maintain the quality that meets or exceeds all compliance criteria outlined in the city's operating permits, certificates, bylaws and all applicable provincial and Canadian legislation.
The Supervisor ensures the safety and security of staff, facilities, equipment, and the public and takes immediate corrective action to remedy unsafe situations as may arise from time to time, including, where necessary, cessation of work, and decisions regarding unsafe work under the Workers' Compensation Act. The Supervisor assists in scheduling, supervising, and training department staff, including developing in-service training programs and assisting in developing and implementing related goals and objectives, budgets, policies and procedures. Works varied and flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
