To achieve its mission of efficiently providing services that enhance the quality of life for all of its residents and visitors, the City of Fort St. John is looking to attract a seasoned Maintenance Manager to round out a very accomplished and dynamic municipal management team.
Accountable to the Director of Community Services, the Maintenance Manager is a member of the Community Services management team and responsible for administrative, supervisory and technical work in planning, coordinating and directing all facility maintenance (electrical, mechanical, structural, security, envelope, interior, etc.) operations in a diverse group of the City’s facilities. The Maintenance Manager will prepare budgets, monitor and analyze costs, as well as be responsible for building lifecycle planning and the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs for building systems. The position will coordinate facility projects throughout the planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation stages and will require close liaison with Facilities Manager, contractors, supervisors and departmental managers.
To qualify you will have post secondary education completed from a recognized technical school, college or university with courses completed in Business Administration, Contract Management, Facility Management/Maintenance and Operations, Project Management, or related field or equivalent experience and education may be considered. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in facility management/maintenance including sound supervisory and administrative experience, preferably in a unionized environment. It is preferred to hold a 4th class power engineering certification or equivalent along with a valid BC class 5 driver’s licence and the ability to obtain RCMP enhanced security clearance (within one year of hire). Thoroughly conversant in the operation of recreational facilities including its related legislation and regulations, you are known as a team player respected for your ability to work effectively within the departmental management team and with mentoring employees in a union setting. Your forte is your ability to deliver exemplary customer service within the areas you have in your management portfolio. You are a leader with superb people management skills, known as a communicator, you are respected for your strong problem solving ability, keen decision making and management skills.
