Winter Fest prep begins January 31

January 26, 2024

The 2024 High on Ice Winter Fest is rapidly approaching. Based out of Centennial Park, the event runs throughout the Family Day long weekend from February 16 – 19, however, residents will start to see activity in the North Peace Leisure Pool parking lot starting on January 31.

Due to active machinery working around the park and North Peace Leisure Pool, the Centennial Park’s 100 Street driveway access will be closed beginning January 31 and will reopen on February 20. Use the entrance on 96 Avenue to park at the North Peace Leisure Pool or park behind the Curling Club and Pomeroy Sport Centre.

It is required that pedestrians stay out of event areas of Centennial Park for their safety while the professional ice carvers and event staff set-up the park for this event.

High on Ice Winter Fest, presented by Peace Country Rentals, kicks-off on Friday, February 16 at 3:30 pm with opening remarks at the Centennial Park stage and City Councils’s slide-off to officially open the MNP Ice Slides, followed by the professional single block ice carving competition in the formal garden area.

Registration is now open for the Community Ice Carving Workshop on February 17 and the Ice Lantern Workshop on February 11. Register online or in-person at the Fort St. John Visitor Centre.
