Road closure changes on 100 Street Corridor Project

June 23, 2022

On Sunday, June 26, crews will be adjusting the road closures for the 100 Street Corridor Project. 101 Avenue will be closed as work continues, while 99 Avenue will reopen. The 99 Avenue intersection has been paved; however, this continues to be an active construction area.

All businesses will remain open; however, their access may be modified slightly. A detour route will be in place using 98 and 102 streets between 99 and 101 avenues. As always, obey all traffic control people and signage, and slow down near crews working.

The underground infrastructure on 100 Street is ageing and needs to be upgraded, and with the necessary construction required, the City conducted a significant public engagement process in 2019 to hear from the community about how to improve the above-ground public spaces. 100 Street will continue to operate as a major transportation corridor within the city – functional for people and cars – and, at the same time, it will become more attractive and enjoyable to support a strong and vibrant downtown.

The work continues to be on schedule for completion this fall. The project is funded through non-property tax revenues, such as the Peace River Agreement and water and sewer reserves.
