Repairs to North Peace Leisure Pool deck require closure

November 28, 2022

During the annual maintenance shutdown earlier this fall, the pool deck at the North Peace Leisure Pool was resurfaced. Since opening, there have been several slips and fall incidents that require immediate remediation to prevent further accidents. The contractor will begin additional work on the pool deck Saturday, December 3, following the Fort St. John Inconnu Swim Club’s event. Unfortunately, due to the required 5-day curing of the deck covering product, the North Peace Leisure Pool will be closed until Friday, December 9, reopening Saturday, December 10.

City staff and contractors continue to work on repairing the hot tub, and we will provide an update on the status of those repairs in early December.

Through a partnership agreement, the North Peace Leisure Pool is owned by the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) and operated by the City of Fort. St John. The PRRD and the City of Fort St John will continue to work together to keep the existing facility operational until a new facility is constructed.
