Fort St. John always has something for you to do whether it's summer or winter. The natural beauty of Fort St. John and the surrounding Peace Valley provides a varied terrain ideal for numerous seasonal outdoor activities.

In winter, why not strap into your cross country skis and see what the Beatton Provincial Park has to offer, with 12km of groomed trails. Snowshoe enthusiasts are welcome too! Snowmobiling at Redfern-Keily Provincial Park in the Rocky Mountains is another great winter activity. What’s a better way to experience the Northern scenery while enjoying a horse-drawn sleigh ride during a sunny winter day.

Don’t forget to visit Fort St John during the annual High on Ice Festival held every year. High on Ice has become a signature event within our city and partners with many organizations to host all kind of events and activities. High on Ice promotes overall community involvement for all demographics including families, adults, children and seniors. It is an event residents can be proud of while enjoying and celebrating the winter season and outdoor activities.

In the summer, the Peace Valley and rolling hills offers endless picturesque opportunities for scenic drives, bird watching, and wildlife viewing. The Peace River presents great opportunities for boating, fishing, and hunting, which ever you are interested in our team will point you in the right direction!

The Pomeroy Sports Centre in Fort St. John boasts Canada’s newest Olympic-sized indoor speed skating oval, two NHL-sized ice surfaces, a heated running track (Northern Vac Track), and a Pacific Sport Northern BC Training Centre. Click here for public skating schedules and Northern Vac Track Hours.

The North Peace Leisure Pool (NPLP) consists of a leisure pool and a 25 meter lap pool.  The Leisure pool has a zero beach at one end and a maximum depth of 1.5 meters (five feet) at the other end. It has waves, a rapid channel and spray and squirt features. There is also a 3 meter and 1 meter dive platforms. Kids Arena Fieldhouse brings the opportunity for seasonal sports to be accessible throughout the year. The facility is open for the general public to rent, which can be used for a variety of purposes, from a friendly game of soccer between friends, soccer tournaments or even birthday parties. Packages for birthdays are also being offered.
