Mayor Lori Ackerman

Lori has served Fort St. John as a City Councillor since 2005 before being elected as Mayor in November 2011. She has also served as a Director for the Peace River Regional District since 2006. Lori has lived in the Peace Region for 31 years: in Dawson Creek until 1988 and since then in Fort St. John. Lori presides as the Chair of the Northern Development Initiative Trust’s Northeast Regional Advisory Committee and in 2009 was nominated by her peers to be one of the elected officials to represent Northeast BC on the NDIT Board. Lori is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors’ Governance Essentials Program.

Lori volunteers with the Peace Williston Advisory Committee to the Board of BC Hydro; Emergency Social Services; Scouts Canada; and was a founding member of the United Way cabinet in Fort St. John. In 2002, Lori received the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and in 2005, she received the Silver Acorn for her distinguished service to Scouting.
 
Lori is the Executive Director of Sci-Tech North, a non-profit organization that offers support to entrepreneurs and innovators in the Northeast. She is tireless in her representation of her clients and communities. In her professional capacity, she is the Vice Chair of the BC Regional Science and Technology network and a member of the Economic Development Association of BC. Lori’s background is in marketing, economic development and small business counseling. Prior to these endeavours, Lori was the Family Service Director at the Salvation Army.
 
Lori is married to Andy and together they have six grown children and seven grandchildren. Lori enjoys gardening, reading and her dogs.

Councillor Trevor Bolin

Trevor was born and raised in Fort St. John and has been following his dream of being an elected Fort St. John City Councillor since 2008. Trevor is co-owner of RE/MAX Action Realty, RE/MAX Dawson Creek Realty, RE/MAX Chetwynd Realty and Action Property Management.
 
Trevor has volunteered for the Association for Community Living, Fort St. John Kids Program and the BC Northern Real Estate Board. In his free time Trevor enjoys camping, collector vehicles and real estate.
 
Trevor has been married to Lori for seven years and together they have two sons: Kayden, 5 and Brody, 2.

Councillor Bruce Christensen

Bruce Christensen has resided in Fort St. John for 24 years and has served as a Fort St. John City Councillor since 2006. He also serves as the North Central Local Government Association’s 2nd Vice President.
 
Bruce is a retired businessman and in the past has served his community as: President of the Fort St. John Construction Association; Chair of the Northern BC Construction Association Board; President of the Fort St. John and District Chamber of Commerce; Director of the BC Chamber of Commerce; President of the Fort St. John Rotary Club; District Governor for Rotary International; Exalted Ruler of the Fort St. John Elks Lodge #288; and Chairman of the Official Board of St. Luke’s United Church. Bruce received the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and served as a minor hockey coach, a minor ball coach, a member of the Palliative Care Society, and has served meals to the less fortunate on Christmas Day.
 
Bruce has been married to Cheryl for 39 years and together they have two children and four grandchildren. Bruce enjoys fishing, golfing and spending time with his family.

Councillor Dan Davies

Dan is a life-long resident of Fort St. John as his grandparents moved to the Peace Region in 1946 following WWII. Dan has served as a Fort St. John City Councillor since 2005.
 
Dan graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Education in 2005 after completing the Alaska Highway Consortium on Teacher Education in Fort St. John. He also holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Northern Lights College. Dan is a teacher at Robert Ogilvie School, has been a Reservist in the Canadian Forces Cadet Instructors Cadre for 17 years and often drives for Inland Concrete on an on-call basis.
 
Dan serves as Chair of the North Peace Economic Development Commission; Vice-Chair of the Restorative Justice Society; Royal Canadian Legion Member and past Vice-President; Canadian Forces Reserves as a Cadet Instructor Cadre Officer; a member of the North Peace Shrine Club; and sits on the Fort St. John Library Association Board.
 
Dan is married to Erin and together they have two children: Hana and Noel. Dan enjoys the outdoors and likes to hike and fish. He also enjoys traveling, experiencing other cultures, cooking and sampling ethnic foods.

Councillor Larry Evans

Larry moved to Fort St. John with his family in 1952 when he was just a toddler. He spent much of his childhood exploring in and around Fort St. John and has watched it grow from a small village to the thriving City that it is today. Larry is currently serving his third term as a Councillor for the City of Fort St. John.
 
Larry worked as a Firefighter for the City of Fort St. John from 1972 until his retirement in 2003. During this time Larry moved up the ranks as a Trainer, Captain and in 1996 he became the Fire Chief. In 2002 he was awarded the Fire Services Exemplary Medal by the Federal Government.
 
Larry has served his community as a volunteer with the following organizations: Mini Man in Motion as Peace Region Coordinator; Muscular Dystrophy Society; North Peace Cultural Centre Building Committee; Rendezvous ’92 Committee; Medical Services Director at two Air Shows; BC Winter Games; Northern BC Winter Games; BC Festival of the arts; Stage North Committee; Child Development Centre Board President; Historical Society Board President; Kinsmen Club; Sunrise Rotary Club as a Founding Member and President; and as Parade Marshall for Canada Day and Santa Claus Parades.
 
Larry has been married to Joan for 38 years and together they have three children and three grandchildren.

Councillor Gord Klassen

Gord grew up in Fort St. John before moving away in 1983 and returning with his family in 1998. Gord served two terms as a Trustee on the School District #60 Board of Education from 2005 to 2011 and is currently serving his first term as a Fort St. John City Councillor.

Gord graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Religious Education and worked for 25 years as a pastor. He also worked as a support worker with School District #60 for several years. Gord has served his community as Chair of the Fort St. John Hospital Ethics Committee; Chaplain to the Fort St. John Fire Department; an Auxiliary Fire Fighter; Regional Coordinator for Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Shoe Box Project; a volunteer on the Focus Group to Address Anti-Social Behaviour; and Parent Advisory Councils at CM Finch, Bert Bowes and also as PAC President at NPSS.
 
Gord is married to Sharon; together they have three children and four grandchildren.

Councillor Byron Stewart

Biography - Byron Stewart

Byron Stewart has served Fort St. John as a City Councilor since November 2011. He has also served as a Director for the Peace River Regional District since December 2013 and presides as co-chair of the North Peace Leisure Pool Civic Properties Commission.

Byron has served as a member of various community boards including the Association for Community Living, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Fort St. John Mixed Slow Pitch Society and currently serves as a member of North Peace Kidsport on the Fort St. John & District Sports Council.

Byron’s education in social services, criminology and recreation has given him the opportunity to achieve a diverse background.  Byron has served as a Youth Worker, Youth Offender Counsellor, Youth Probation Interviewer, Recreation Programmer, Manager of the Lido Theatre and he is currently apprenticing for a career as a Funeral Director.

Byron moved with his family to Fort St. John from Churchill, Manitoba in 1974 and has resided here ever since. Byron is married to his beautiful wife, Lisa.   He enjoys arts, culture, sport and recreation activities and spending time with his friends and family. Byron has an appreciation for hats, colorful socks and the sound of people sharing laughter and enjoying life.
