Learn about cemetery mysteries such as the groundskeeper who ran away with the cemetery map!

    Today only, you can find these golden tickets at parks around Fort St. John! Inside the envelope you will find a gift card or gift certificate for a tasty ice cream treat. Check out the Fort St. John Visitor Information Centre’s Facebook for the time they will be out. We ask that if you find more than one golden ticket, please just take one and let others join in on the hunt!

    Calling all the chess players of Fort St. John! Don't forget to check out the outdoor chess board at Heritage Park and submit your chess photos for a chance to win a chess board! You can submit your photos by emailing recreation@fortstjohn.ca or by commenting on the City of Fort St John Recreation Facebook page! We will randomly draw a winner and contact them the next day to collect their prize!

    Join us for the debut of our Woodlawn Cemetery Tour. From dentists to nurses and farmers to surveyors, these people changed the face of Fort St. John. Learn about the man who walked over 800 miles to Fort St. John from Telegraph Creek. Hear about a woman who could skin a beaver faster than any male trapper. Find out more about the Chinese couple that welcomed RCMP constables. Working through hardships, these people made our community home.

    Print your blank crossword sheet off (or pick it up from the Visitor Centre), then check the City of Fort St John Recreation Facebook page every Monday in August for the weekly clue. This clue will lead to you a physical location, where you will find your crossword puzzle clue. The clue at the site will be used to fill in your puzzle! Then, at the end of the month, submit your completed crossword to be entered to win a prize! Follow the City of Fort St John Recreation page on Facebook for more information!

    2022 marks the 80th anniversary of the construction of the Alaska Highway. Learn about the connection many of the people buried in our main cemetery have to the Alaska Highway. From construction workers to entrepreneurs to ambulance drivers, the cemetery is full of people who worked and lived along the highway.

  • August 20, 2022 (8:00 am) - (3:00 pm)
    Start your engines for motorcycle ride throughout the Peace Region! Riders will stop at Visitor Centre locations in the Peace Region, starting in Fort St John at the Pomeroy Sport Centre and check with with the Vistior Centre staff. At each destination, riders will draw a card to make a poker hand. Registration is required but buying a poker hand is optional. The participant with the top poker hand will win 1/2 the registration pot and the other half will go to a local charity!
