Description:

Reporting to the Director of Facilities and Grounds, the Facilities Manager is a member of the Community Services management team and holds a wide range of responsibilities with managing assigned recreational facilities, setting departmental priorities, supervising and scheduling departmental staff within the Facilities Department. Specifics entail short- and long-range planning, organizing, and technical direction of the various activities of the City as it relates to recreational infrastructure. You provide professional advice to supervisors; make presentations to Council, supervisors, boards, commissions, civic groups and the general public. You will lead, mentor and coach a sizeable team of dedicated departmental professionals to ensure the very best customer service delivery to residents and visitors alike.

To qualify you will have post secondary education with a diploma or certificate in either business, recreation, public administration or related field coupled with five years experience in a similar environment in a managerial capacity preferably within a unionized environment. It is preferred to hold a 4th class power engineering certification or equivalent. Thoroughly conversant in the operation of recreational facilities including its related legislation and regulations, you are known as a team player respected for your ability to work effectively within the departmental management team and with mentoring employees in a union setting. Your forte is your ability to deliver exemplary customer service within the areas you have in your management portfolio.  You are a leader with superb people management skills, known as a communicator, you are respected for your strong problem solving ability, keen decision making and management skills.
