Development
The City of Fort St. John strives to provide effective and efficient development services. The City intends to provide excellent customer service supported through our transparent and consistent processes to help build a vibrant and sustainable community.
Development within the City is regulated by:
- the Official Community Plan
- the Zoning Bylaw [PDF - 31 MB]
- the Subdivision and Development Servicing Bylaw [PDF - 46 MB], and
- the BC Building Code.
The Development Applications page provides information on the different types of development the City permits. In addition to any application fees, Development Cost Charges may be required if you are subdividing land or require a building permit, pursuant to the Development Cost Charges Bylaw [PDF - 3 MB].
The Approved Product lists [PDF - 325 KB] indicates the products that are to be installed during the construction of City infrastructure.
