The North Peace Leisure Pool offers the Red Cross Learn to Swim program. It is a continuum of swimming and water safety programs from infancy through youth and beyond. Red Cross Swim offers an approach to learning to swim that balances water safety awareness and knowledge, with swimming strokes training and fitness. Under Red Cross Swim we have a number of programs: Red Cross Swim Preschool, for babies four months of age to 5-year-old children, and Red Cross Swim Kids for six-year-old children and older. For adults and teens the swimming programs are designed to meet your individual needs. Private lessons are also available.

Red Cross Preschool

Red Cross Preschool is an 8 level program for children 4 months to 6 years old. This allows your children to enter levels based on their age and abilities. Each level is built around an aquatic animal theme, and has it's own mascot, which will make learning engaging and fun for young children. Children enter a level based on their age and abilities

Starfish: Babies and their caregivers work on getting wet, buoyancy and movement, front, back, and vertical position in the water, and shallow water entries and exits.

Prerequisites: Age 4 months  - 1 year, able to hold their head up, parent/caregiver participation required

Duck: Babies and their caregivers work on rhythmic breathing, moving forward and backward, front and back float with recovery, and shallow water entries and exits.

The 10 levels allow for solid progression. Private Lessons

We offer private lessons in a variety of sets. These lessons are part of the current Red Cross lessons being offered and if the participant misses a lesson, we do not make up, reschedule, or refund missed classes.

It is recommended that swimmers are no more than 1 level apart in skills if being entered into the same private lesson. Please note that a Level 2 swimmer and a Level 3 swimmer cannot enter the same level as a Level 2 is taught in the leisure pool and a Level 3 is taught in the lap pool.
