Fort St. John to host 2017 Pee Wee box lacrosse Provincial Championships

The Fort St. John Minor Lacrosse Association has awarded Fort St. John the rights to host the upcoming 2017 Pee Wee box lacrosse Provincial Championships.

The Fort St. John Grizzlies will be hosting the tournament at the Pomeroy Sport Centre and North Peace Arena from July 6 to 9th, 2017. Box lacrosse is Canada’s national summer sport, and is a growing sport here in the Peace Region. The sport has historically seen players largely from the Lower Mainland, where eight Junior and seven Senior teams compete against each other during the Spring before taking on the top team in Ontario for the Minto and Mann Cups, respectively.

City Council received the report from the Association about the hosting of the provincials, and will be working with the organization during the upcoming Spring.
