"The Snow Angel Program is truly, 'the neighbourly thing to do". The Snow Angels "Earn Your Wings" program is all about citizens helping citizens. Snow Angels is a voluntary snow removal service for seniors and persons with physical disabilities who cannot afford to hire someone to clear snow from their sidewalks and driveways.
The City's Snow Angels program puts seniors and those with a physical disability who need a helping hand with clearing the snow from their driveway and / or sidewalks with an Energetic Snow Angel volunteer from the community.
To be a Snow Angel all you have to do is adopt a residential sidewalk and / or driveway in Fort St. John this winter. It is easy: register with the City and the City will put you in touch with a resident in need. Or simply watch for citizens in your neighbourhood who need help removing snow and ask if you can lend a hand.
The voluntary goodwill Snow Angel service is intended for those citizens who are unable to clear the snow and who are: 65 years of age and older, who claim the Seniors or Disability Homeowner Grant, and are unable to clear the snow. Those citizens who are under 65 who have a physical disability and have no able-bodied adults living at the address who can clear the snow.
Anyone can be a Snow Angel. Volunteers are reminded to dress warmly for the weather and bring their own snow shovel! Volunteers are welcome to use their own snow removal equipment such as snow blowers, tractors, etc. To register as a Snow Angel or to let the City know that you are in need of assistance by calling 250-787-8150 or email
