With a diversified work force of over 150 employees, the City employs people in a variety of locations throughout Fort St. John. In addition to City Hall, work locations include the Public Works Yard, Water Treatment Plant, the Fort St. John RCMP detachment, the Fire Hall, the Enerplex, the North Peace Arena, the Visitor Information Center and the North Peace Leisure Pool.

The hiring of City Staff is coordinated through the Human Resources Department and all job opportunities are posted on the website.  Once a job posting closes, the hiring department reviews internal applications.  If there are no qualified internal candidates, external candidates are short-listed for interviews.  Depending on the position to be filled, opportunities are sometimes also advertised in local and national newspapers and on career specific websites.
